Start with a shortlist, not an application marathon

How to research funding for your book

Match the opportunity to your work. Check whether it supports writing time, a residency, translation or publishing costs. Read the actual applicant requirements, not just the program title.
Verify the current round. Follow the official funder link. Confirm the deadline and time zone, fees, location requirements and rules for previously published work.
Save a realistic plan. Keep a private shortlist, application stage, notes and personal target date in your account. Apply directly through the funder’s official process.

Writing grants: common questions

What can I find in the writing grants directory?

Research funding for writing, literary translation, residencies and publishing projects. Each published entry links to the funder so you can check its eligibility, fees and current application round.

Do I need an account to browse grants?

Browse up to ten grant cards without an account. Sign in to open full opportunity details, compare grants, search the full published directory and save your shortlist. Imported records are not listed until they have been reviewed.

How do I save a grant?

Sign in and select Save on a grant card to add it to your shortlist. Open the saved plan to keep an application stage, private notes and a personal target date. Already-saved plans keep their existing progress. Saving does not submit an application or send reminder emails.

Are the listed grants open, and am I eligible?

Not necessarily. A directory entry may describe a previous or recurring round. Check the current deadline, closing time zone, applicant requirements and fees on the official funder website before applying. A directory match is not an eligibility decision or an endorsement.
